About

With nearly 20 years of riding, training, and teaching, Colleen's breadth of experience is vast and unique. As a teenager she rode and competed in the Western Riding World with her Quarter Horse, whom she trained from a two year old. Together they dabbled in a little bit of everything~Competitive trail riding, western pleasure, team roping, and rodeo pageants.

One day for fun, she decided to try a jumping lesson, immediately falling in love with the experience. So Colleen wasted no time and picked up the sport of Three-Day Eventing~Dressage, Showjumping, and Cross-Country Jumping. After buying a new horse, an off-the-track Throughbred mare whom she trained and competed at venues all over the state, she furthered her skills as a rider and trainer.

Colleen became a working student for a local successful Hunter/Jumper trainer, Ruben Arce. During this time she gained experience riding and training young sporthorses for Ruben, taking her skills to the next level in jumping and dressage. She purchased a new horse at this time as well, a four-year-old Appendix gelding with superior athletic abilities, named Dallas. Colleen and Dallas currently compete on the Jumper Circuit.

Upon graduating college with a B.A. in Communication Studies from San Jose State University, it was an exciting dream come true for head trainer, Colleen Shjeflo to start PEA in 2011. Her love for riding horses inspires her to share her knowledge and experience of joy in everyday riding and success in equestrian sports. This year our lesson program entails trail rides through the Stanford Hills, lessons at home, and riding competitions at local shows. But the best is yet to come!

When Colleen is not at the ranch she enjoys watching movies, going to sporting events, visiting her family, and spending time at home in Redwood City with her two pet cats.
